So...our game tonight against A&M was most definitely weak sauce so I thought I'd share a couple of "strong" sauces in tonight's blog. I'll be sharing my pizza sauce and what I like to call "Ashton and Patrick's game soothing sauce"
Pizza sauce first....
1 (or 2 depending on amount needed) 16 ounce cans of stewed tomatoes (diced will work too)
1 8 oz can tomato sauce
1 splash of good balsamic vinegar
1 clove minced garlic
1 tbsp crushed italian seasoning
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp sugar (or more to taste)
1/4 tsp pepper
red wine-optional for drinking and/or putting in the sauce
put stewed tomatoes (if using) in a blender/food processor and puree
add pureed stewed tomatoes and remaining ingredients to saucepan
bring to a boil
then reduce to a simmer and cover for 20 minutes (or less if you really are in a hurry)
cover homemade (or canned pizza crust) with sauce, cheese, and toppings and bake...yummy
Ashton and Patrick's Game Soothing Sauce
This is a great recipe for when your team loses playing the one team you can't bear to lose to...
1 glass
1 cube of ice
3-4 fingers (depending on how bad the loss) of Makers Mark (Or Makers Mark 47)
consume and hope it brightens your day...or at least makes you go to sleep and forget an awful football game (this technique worked for Patrick this evening)
I'll write more tomorrow when I've licked my wounds...
eat well, and be well...
Ashton, a snoring Sookie, and a snoring Patrick :)
